Prepare for Gate while in B-tech

B-tech is a tough thing; it involves the understanding of how the world works? It involves the study of mechanism behind motor pumping water, it involves profound introspection of the code behind the moving cursor and it involves loads of hard work of an engineering student, with M-tech the toughness increases by a level.

Most of the engineering students face this dilemma of how to prepare for GATE while pursuing their B-tech degree. If you are an engineering student then you will be able to relate yourself with it. It is difficult to continue with the classes and prepare for Gate at the same time because none of them is a child’s play.

With this blog, we try to leverage the students with the tips and tricks how to make it easier for one self: -

It is a fact that you are going to be tested on the subjects you study during your B-tech, so start concentrating on your syllabus. Go a bit deeper and prepare the topics in detail and you will see how it turns out to be easier for you during exams.

A walk down the timeline to the old papers of Gate will give you enough idea about what all things are going to come in exam and hence you can concentrate more on the subjects with more weightage.

If not regular then go for online courses: – It is going to be difficult to attend classes for Gate preparation after 9-5 classes’ every day; but then there is internet and then there are institutes providing with the online preparation classes.

These online courses are flexible and you can study them according to your best appropriate timings.

Regular practice Practice is the key. You need to practice a lot of paper before you actually go for the exam, prepare yourself for the stress, get used to the pressure so that you do not fumble or get nervous on the D-day.

Preparation for GATE 2015

Graduate Aptitude Test Examination (GATE) is an All India Level Test for the undergraduate subjects of engineering and science. Students have a lot of fear and wrong myths about GATE exam. Generally the faces of the students are dried down of hearing the name of GATE. But in actual the fear is useless. Do you want to know why they are useless! Lets see.

1. Exam is not at all tough in spite of it being an All India Level Test. The questions of GATE are fully conceptual. Once you have understood the concepts of each topic, you will definitely be able to solve the questions.

2. This is a very wrong notion that attending maximum number of questions will help you score high. This is so because GATE questions have negative marks too on wrong answers. Attend only those questions about which you confident enough. Scoring about 70 % ile + is enough to let you be qualified.

3.     No need to study all the subjects and topics of graduation. GATE has a syllabus for each department. Refer to it first, though it is fully based on graduation courses, but all subjects and all topics are not included. So no need to refer the subjects and topics which are not in syllabus and waste your time. Even some of the subjects and topics which are included in the syllabus are not important. For that refer to the previous ten years question paper of GATE, and note down the subjects and the topics from which no or very less questions are asked and those from which maximum questions are asked and study them only.
